Troopy Rear Door Tables, 3D scan/Product Design

3D scan of the rear Troopy doors needed more accurate result to be able to design a perfect foldable table with storage boxes and sliding chopping board on them,

I needed OEM cover mounting holes also seating edges to be accurate for final product, so the NextEngine scanner which you can see in below images mounted on a tripod did a great job and as you see in the below image the result is very good, Thanks to Vitor my manager for lending me this scanner to start my project, this scanner only cover small area for each session of shooting but if you use some pointy color tags you will be able to shoot some more overlap shots and then align them on each other to be able to cover bigger subjects then finally tune the final cloud points data and get a clean ready to go scanned data as I have shown below.

Here is final scan data after all alignments and finally all the center mounts and edge of the OEM cover is showing perfectly and accurate to start the main design,

The doors got good cavities which you can utilise very good size storage boxes in your design, to be able to store spices and cooking needs into the doors neatly and use as much as space you have for your tiny house on wheels.

There are some products in the market but I do believe none of them covered all the possible potentials of the rear tail gates of the Troopies, up to this date I’m writing here, some not big enough to match the exact area of the OEM covers some are very thin and made by fluffy material and also most of them got no any implemented storage boxes, even some designed for Jeep or other vehicles and because of lack of a proper table in the market, Troopy owners started to buy those and use them in their trips, but here we go this design will be totally new in the market of Landcruiser’s overlanding products, is strong, practical, lightweight and durable, bear with me to explain how you prepare your tail gates to mount this design…

Here are both Left and Right hand rear tail gates, these rear Troopy doors are exactly same as Landcruiser 71 and 76 series as well as some older 75 series too, so my design and final product will be suitable for all these vehicles too,

Basically the Right hand tail gate got some double up internal bracing to carry the spare tire too, which in this image clearly shown that we will not touch this bracing parts and as much as surface we can use at the same time we will not reduce any strength of the original door, the cut is very simple and we only remove unusable flat surfaces between each bracing without touching the double up materials which they tag welded on the door, on the other smaller door (Left hand tail gate), also there is a good cavity as shown in this image which we could use as a good storage box for the design.

The mounting holes of the original OEM cover are perfect to use as mounting points of the products, the only thing we need is to drill them by 9mm drill bit and then fix M6 Rivnuts on all of them, also remember to cover all the bare metal edges with a rust proof primer and then paint over top of them to avid any future possible rusts on the removed material. now the doors are ready to install the final exciting foldable tables.

Now we get to the design of the products, here is what I designed for Left and Right tail gates, the Right hand foldable table got three good size storage boxes and left hand table got one good size storage box too which implemented into the door’s cavities, the right hand table got sliding hard wood chopping board, full extension to 650mm length and rated upto 40kg load on its slides and I have used very slim type of quality slides came from UK, the left hand table got removable chopping board which you can easy remove it from back side and place it on top of the table, both products designed to the perfection with amazing strength and durability and both are powder coated and at the same time Aluminum will save heaps of weight for these elegant products.

Both products are absolutely rattle free, designed to last long for heaps of enjoyable camping and very convenient to install and use, with only 12.5kg/85mm poke out for the bigger table and 4.5Kg/55mm poke out on the smaller table you can imagine how these will add heaps of potential and no any extra heavy weights on your doors, thanks to the great Aluminum alloys, and precise fully automated CNC laser cuts and folds which made these exciting products possible to be existed plus maybe little myself as a perfectionist for designing them absolutely very fussy and precise, 😉

Im so excited that even after introducing this product to the Landcruiser forums and overlanding communities, they received heaps of interests and pride from other real deal travelers, which I already got some order request for custom fabricating the tables for others to use and add to their camping enjoyments too.

Here are some final images of the installed tables on my own Troopy, which you can see how easy you can fit your kitchen tools and products, spice boxes and cups etc… also the main bigger table could be used very nicely to place the legendary Coleman dual fuel and its famous cooking oven with the fuel tank all fit perfectly on the table with a good holding size and coverage, which up to this date none of the other existed tables in the market could fit entire dimensions of the Coleman dual setup with its front fuel tank fully covered, but here we have heaps of space for this very famous setup, have to add the tables could be leveled by side stay knobs nicely, if you ever imagined how annoying would be to cook on an uneven surface then these leveling knobs will easy level and tune the table surface for your frying pans on an offroad conditions which is usually not fully leveled for your parked vehicle, here with this design we will have no more hand lifting and tuning the pans while scrambling your eggs etc…

Hope information here inspired you legends and thanks for visiting our website, if any of you needed these tables and interested to have these fabricated for them, you can contact us too and I can post these world wide to your address too. (@AmirAndAzadeh)

See you out there and enjoy the travelling beauties, /Amir.
