Disclaimer note: Installation of Diesel heaters by the way I explained below is totally my own way and not suggested as standard fitting instruction for your device and is only my own decision for Troopy available locations, this way might not be safest possible installation for you and before any decision for your own installation pls search all available sources to do your own safest installation, Pls do not consider my explained install as the only way and read the installation guide from your own device manufacturer first.
The left hand side Troopy wall rear cavity is a perfect spot to install this size of diesel heaters, I got mine from Webasto Airtop STC 2000 as this brand is well known world wide and all the spare parts could be found anywhere, also there are some copy version of this Webasto heater from China or other brands which people could get by exact dimensions and similar function too, as you see in above photo its seating nicely and almost flush by the wall panels which they are powder coated aluminum with my extra designed storage boxes there,
This space is for the OEM jack mount and suddenly by being little creative you can make a good stable bracket to seat on exact Jack holder mounting points, you need a proper angle tear on the bracket and a long M8 rod to be able to bolt the bracket on the jack mount location, also you will need a proper hole sizes to pass the Websato fittings too.
Below two images showing you how to fabricate proper bracket without any need to drill extra hole or cut on the body, the bracket is holding the heater so strong and then from rear cavity you have to pass the exhaust line though the body panel by Tube stainless steel reducer fitting and back nut then seal it properly by high temperature sealant and even the Troopy body rear vent location is amazing place to fit the air intake too.
The left hand side vent point on the body could be used as the location for placing Air intake and its filter as shown in front image, this location should be prepared before hand as below shown image in such a way that you cut at least two hatch rubber flaps and open the way out for the heater to breath properly, its a little struggle to fit the filter and its line in the Troopy vent plastic part, but possible if little work on it.
Above photo is showing the air intake on the left hand side of the Webasto device, the exhaust line going from under the device and right hand side of the device through a hole you have to drill on the body just behind the rear wheel, shown from outside, its a good flat panel area for Webasto exhaust out way, which in below image you see how its 22mm exhaust line came out of the Troopy body then pointed out again and fixed on my Troopy modified muffler, which I explained this modification in a post related to my water tank installation by detail.
I have to mention this install is for avoiding to put extra big hole on your floor and might not be safe for you if you don’t do it properly pls search the standard fitting guide of your diesel heater and decide which way you want to go, but personally I did this way and by proper high temp silicon on the body and also heat wrap from inside on the exhaust line I tried to eliminate extra heat build up on the way of the exhaust line, inside or and on the body panel, its not very easy but you need to do it stage by stage and have enough patient to pass all the lines properly and fix all the clamps under the Webasto in a very tight space properly,
Finally after placing the Left Hand side cabinet as you see in below image the extra diesel tank dedicated to the Webasto heater is installed on the cabinet perfectly, its filter and pump on the cabinet behind the toilet compartment all fitted well and you see how I run my ducting on this cabinet, which was tight area to do a proper ducting but again possible and neatly achievable.
As you see on the cabinet I have extra holes to be able to let the warm areas to breathe better and do not trap any warm air anywhere, from rear panels and on the main cabinet extra holes will help to eliminate condensation and air trap as much as possible.
The Webasto kit will come with required wiring and fittings etc… but you might need to see how your system and exhaust line and air intake etc… will need to run on your vehicle and you will need to buy extra stuff as you will required for your perfect installation, kit is not coming with extra Diesel tank but I decided to have dedicated extra tank and do not muck around with the Troopy under body tanks at all, this way everything is separated and easy for maintenance, the kit is coming with a manual switch, but I strongly suggest you get the digital Webasto multi controller as you will have extra functions for your device which they are important, first controlling speed of the fan then timing it properly and also extra ability to run the device only as a ventilation device for your van, these are all only achievable by the extra digital multi controller which shown on my right hand side cabinet control panel in the front image, off course required pre hand planning and proper wiring which I didnt explained here but really straight forward and is a plug and play system.
Below image is showing the whole cabinet all in place after installing the Webasto and the LH side and how the Webasto diesel tank is reachable in a perfect spot for filling, if you needed any more info regarding this installation which I might be forgotten to explain feel free to send us a message too.
